For Today's Learning Time, we made butterflies and cocoons and talked about the life cycle of butterflies. I read them The Hungry Catipiller by Eric Carle. Jack joined us because both kids needed naps today (I think Lucy might be going through a growth spurt or something) and Lucy really wanted to make butterflies. The project is geared more towards 3 yr olds and up because of the cutting and pasting so Jack and I worked on one together.
finished products! (the green thing is a cocoon. It's supposed to be made out of toilet paper ring but I can never collect those so we just made it out of green card stock...much prettier.)
We used construction paper, butterfly coloring pages printed off the comp, crayons, straws (or pipe cleaners), glue, Popsicle sticks, and tape.
